We Hate the EU – My New Domain
The registration for the public around the new .eu European domains has started at 10am this morning on a first-come first-served basis of over 1,000 accredited registrars in Europe
The .eu domains are now available to everyone within the European Union who wish to register a .eu web address.
There was a “sunrise†period since December to allow any one with a trademark to register their domain first if they could prove they had a European trademark.
So far the registrar Eurid, has had over 300,000 applications for new .eu domains and Marc Van Wesemael, the MD of Eurid, said he expects “several hundred thousand proud holders of brand new .eu domain names from Friday and onwards”.
On the same topic Volkswagen beat Ralph Lauren and Nestle to www.polo.eu by only 3 minutes so they must have been pretty annoyed…
